Yangon, Apr 19: Myanmar authorities detained a Japanese journalist in Yangon said Japan's govt while it was trying to seek for his release. Inputs regarding the case were provided by BBC Burmese, who quoted a witness saying that a freelance journalist Yuki Kitazumi was picked up from his home and taken into custody by troops on Sunday night.
According to the witness's statement , the journalist was asked to raise both hands and was taken away in a car. The Japanese govt spokesman has described the journalist as a man in his forties, without naming him.

The Chief Cabinet Secretary Katsunobu Kato told a news conference that, "We are seeking, from Myanmar, his quick release, and we are trying to secure the safety of Japanese nationals," and further added that the govt was seeking details on the circumstances surrounding the journalist's detention.
Sources from social and other digital media provide that Yuki Kitazumi, the detained Japanese Journalist, runs a media production company, Yangon Media Professionals, and used to be a journalist with the Nikkei business daily.
