Mumbai, April 14: The Ministry of Education in an update to one of the news agencies has declared to cancel Class 10 CBSE board exams and postpone the Class 12 board exams for now. "Results of Class 10th will be prepared on the basis of an objective criterion to be developed by the Board. Class 12th exams will be held later, the situation will be reviewed on 1st June by the Board", the Ministry said.
The COVID-19 situation is not favourable today. Hence exams have been cancelled for students of Class 10. They are to be promoted on basis of internal assessment. If a student is not satisfied with the assessment then he/she can appear for the examination once the situation (#COVID19) is normal", Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank said on twitter.
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) had decided to conduct exams for students of 12th from May 4 to June 14, 2021. The situation will be reviewed and the new dates will be announced soon as revealed by the Ministry of Education. This is probably after the state of Maharashtra after postponing Maharashtra Board exams 2021 because of the sudden and high rise in the active COVID-19 cases, had written to the CBSE, CISCE and other boards to reschedule their exam or postpone it until the situation stables.
As per her tweet the statement reads, “Your health is our priority. Given the nature and the spread of COVID-19, the MVA government feels conducting board exams at this stage isn't conducive at all. So we've postponed ours, and have now written to CBSE, CISCE, CambridgeInt, iborganization to reschedule theirs.”
The Minister further added that “We're hopeful that these boards will also appreciate our viewpoint. A uniform decision by all boards will be hugely beneficial to the health, safety and future of students".
