COVID hits Supreme Court! 50% staff test positive for coronavirus

New Delhi, April 12: In a very shocking situation, India's apex court has come down in the crisis of the second wave of the covid 19 as over 50 percent of staff in the Supreme Court has been tested positive.

On Saturday alone, 44 staffers were tested positive for the covid. After the crisis, the entire court premise, including courtrooms, is now being sanitized by the government.

Supreme Court suspends physical mentioning of cases until further orders. According to the information given by the additional Registrar, DEU, all the benches which are scheduled to sit at 10:30 am will sit at 11:30 am and those scheduled to sit at 11 am will sit at 12 noon in Supreme Court.
 
 
Several benches led by CJI (Chief Justice of India) S A Bodbe and justices UU Lalit, Ashok Bhushan, KM Joseph, and R. Subhash Reddy will now assemble an hour late

Meanwhile, India today recorded 1,68,912 new COVID-19 infections, the highest since the coronavirus outbreak. The fresh cases pushed the tally to 1,35,27,717. The case fatality rate has further dropped to 1.26 percent. The country witnessed 904 coronavirus-related deaths in the last 24 hours, taking the till to 1,70,179, the Union Health Ministry stated.
