Uttarakhand CM revokes Char Dham Act', frees 51 temples from state control

Haridwar, April 10: Revoking 'Uttarakhand Char Dham Devasthanam Management Act', Uttarakhand Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat has freed the 51 temples including Haridwar and Badrinath from the government control. He added that the government will also review the decision to form the Board.

 

Tirath Singh Rawat, said "I have decided to take out of the Devasthanam Board's ambit 51 temples which had been brought under it," He also added that the government will review the decision to form the Board.

 

 

 

According to the information, the CM took this decision after the meeting of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad Mandal in Haridwar.

 

Former Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat during his tenure passed the Uttarakhand Char Dham Devasthanam Management Act and, took over the control of the major Hindu religious institutions. The Act allowed the government to nominate MPs, MLAs, and representatives as the chairman and members to the temple's boards for its management.
