#NayaKashmir: Local join hands with administration to embellish the valley

Srinagar, March 05: Jammu & Kashmir the administration is leaving no stone unturned to upkeep the image of this paradise on earth. The administration has now begun beautification work in Srinagar under the Smart City project to give a major boost to state tourism.

The administration has panted the dazzling paintings on flyover pillars above the Jehangir Chowk to showcase the culture and picturesque scenes from around the Valley.
 
 
According to Rizwan Khurshid, Project Coordinator of the Srinagar Smart City project, the images of tourist spots will attract new visitors and give tourism a boost. "This project is for the city and these scenes are a part of pedestrian movement in the bustling city. These paintings are also likely to attract tourists to other places around the Union Territory," said Khurshid.
 
More interestingly, the residents of the valley are also stepping forwards to help the state administration in their initiative to embellish the valley. A 7-year-old Jannat from Kashmir has been cleaning the Dal Lake in Srinagar for the past years. Her efforts are recognized nationwide by including her story in the curriculum of a school in Hyderabad. Not only residence but the security forces are also leading the campaign from the front This step will not only boost tourism but, this step will further provide jobs to job seekers. This is the first step to convert Srinagar into a smart city.
 
Some residents have also lauded the move, saying it will help in boosting tourism. "This is a very good step as this will develop the city. They are making a parking space as well. I hope that this gives tourism a boost. These things should continue in the future," said a resident named Jahangir Beig.
 
On 1 March, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha laid foundation stones for scores of public utilities and developmental projects worth Rs 26.6 crore under the prestigious Srinagar Smart City Project.
