Pune, March 04: Wishing a roaring success to the Mamata Banerjee led party ahead of the West Bengal Elections, Sanjay Raut of Shivsena on Thursday declared that the party that hardly won any seat outside Maharashtra would not contest polls in West Bengal. This certainly, if nothing else is a big loss to the Election Commission on the deposit front.
He further accused BJP of us using money, muscle and media his 'Mamata Didi'. "After discussions with Uddhav Thackeray, looking at the present scenario, it appears like in 'Didi vs All' fight, money, media is being used against her. We stand in solidarity with her. She is the real Bengal Tigress", he tweeted.
It is probably in last 30 years that the Shivsena party has not won a single seat outside Maharashtra. Only one seat Shiv Sena won outside Maharashtra was in 1991 Uttar Pradesh assembly elections.
The BJP, meanwhile, will hold a meeting today finalise the list of candidates for the upcoming assembly election in West Bengal and Assam. The party prepares to draw up a list of 60 candidates for the first two phases of the Assembly polls starting March 27, West Bengal BJP president Dilip Ghosh has said. On Wednesday, the party held another round of its election committee meeting at its party office in Hastings before central and state leaders left for Delhi.
