New Delhi, Mar 31: The Indian Army has gifted one lakh doses of 'Made in India' COVID-19 vaccines to the Nepal Army as part of the efforts of the militaries of the two neighbors to enhance bilateral cooperation. The nine packages of Covishield vaccines, manufactured by the Serum Institute of India (SII) arrived in Kathmandu, via an Air India flight.

India has previously gifted one million doses of Made in India' COVID-19 vaccines to Nepal for the immediate requirement of Nepal's healthcare and front-line workers.

Meanwhile, China on Monday donated 800,000 doses of anti-COVID-19 vaccines to Nepal, according to media reports here. The Vero cell vaccines, which arrived at Kathmandu's Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), was handed over by the Chinese ambassador to Nepal Hou Yanqi to the Minister for Health and Population (MoHP) Hridayesh Tripathi during a ceremony organised for the occasion, The Himalayan Times reported.

Nepal has reported 276,839 cases of coronavirus and 3,027 deaths related to the disease.
