PM Modi arrives in Dhaka to embolden 'Swarnim' relations between India and Bangladesh

Dhaka, Mar 26: Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Dhaka few minutes ago, with Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina welcoming him. After the welcoming session, both the Prime Ministers shared talks with each other for a considerable period. Prime Minister Modi's first international visit after the outbreak of the pandemic is to Bangladesh and thus states the significance of the bilateral relations between the two countries.
The Prime Minister's first foreign visit after the onset of the COVID 19 pandemic has begun, to the friendly neighboring country, with which India shares deep cultural, linguistic and people-to-people ties. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be participating in the National Day celebrations on Mar 26, which will also commemorate the birth centenary of the Father of the Nation of Bangladesh, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, who has been announced the Gandhi Peace Prize 2020, just prior to the Prime Minister's Bangladesh visit.
The Prime Minister before his visit to the friendly neighbor has shared about Bangabandhu, through a release that, "Bangabandhu was one of the tallest leaders of the last century, whose life and ideals continue to inspire millions. I look forward to visiting Bangabandhu’s Samadhi in Tungipara to pay my respects to his memory."
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also be the first Indian Prime Minister in the history to visit the famous Kali temple in Bangladesh, stressing on the cultural bonds that both the countries share with each other. About his visit to the Kali temple, the Prime Minister has shared before the visit that, " I also look forward to offering prayers to Goddess Kali at the ancient Jashoreshwari Kali Temple, one of the 51 Shaktipeeths in the Puranic tradition."
The Indian Prime Minister's first visit after arriving in Bangladesh was to the National Martyr's Memorial of Bangladesh, to pay tribute to the martyrs of the war that India and Pakistan fought in 1971 for the liberation of Bangladesh. After paying his tribute to the martyrs, PM Modi also planted a tree at the memorial.
