New Delhi, March 24: In a bid to serve justice to the Indian student Rashmi Samant, British Police and Oxford University has finally started an investigation into complaints about cyberbullying surrounding Rashmi.
Managing Director of the global Hindu Federation, Satish Sharma, complained with the Thames Valley Police. He has filed the complaint on the behalf of Rashmi. In the complaint, it accused Abhijit Sarkar an Indian origin history lecturer of inciting religious hatred, bullying, and harassment.
Rashmi is a student of MSc in Energy Systems at Oxford University. Rashmi was the first Indian who has been elected as the president of the Oxford student union, however, she was later forced to resign over allegations over allegations of "transphobia, racism, and antisemitism".
According to Reshma, Abhijit had insulted her and condemned the staff member for bringing her family's religious background into the public domain. He had also insured Rashmi's, Hindu Faith. He also dragged her family into the controversy and try to defame them using the public platform. Abhijit Sarkar had put up an Instagram post about a month ago, where he posted a photo of Rashmi’s parents (after blurring out their faces) apparently “celebrating” the demolition of the Babri Masjid in Ayodhya and the foundation laying of the Ram Mandir on the site on August 5, 2020.
According to the Managing Director of the global Hindu Federation, Satish Sharma, Abhiit bullied Rashmi to the point that she was hospitalised with a nervous breakdown.
Earlier, Union minister S Jaishakar also raised this issue in the parliament saying matter is being monitored closely and will be taken up with the UK when required. He said, “We will monitor these developments very closely. We will raise it when required and we will always champion the fight against racism and other forms of intolerance.”
