Bengaluru, Mar 20: Dattatreya Hosabale, a relatively young face, was elected as Sarkaryawah (General Secretary) of Rashtriya Swayamasevak Sangh (RSS) on Friday for the period of three years. The election was due as the term of the incumbent Sarkaryawah Suresh alias Bhayyaji Joshi expired this year. Bhayyaji Joshi served as Sarkaryawah for four consecutive terms from 2009 to 2021.
The Akhil Bharatiya Pratinidhi Sabha (ABPS) delegated participating in the two-day meeting of the top decision-making body of the RSS unanimously elected Hosabale to the top executive post of the largest Hindu organization.
The new incumbent has been the Sah-sarkaryawah of RSS since 2009.
Hosabale in his mid-sixties hails from Sorab in Shivamoga district of Karnataka. He is a postgraduate in English and well versed in a number of languages. He came in contact with RSS in 1968 and later worked for the ABVP. In 2004 he was entrusted with the responsibility of Sah-Bouddhik Pramukh and in 2009 he became the Joint General Secretary of the RSS.
The annual ABPS to elect Sarkarywah is normally held at Nagpur but this year due to the covid pandemic situation in Maharashtra, the meet was shifted to Bengaluru.
