Wonder in Making! Indian Railways completes the arch bottom of Chenab bridge

New Delhi, March 16: Achieving the major milestone, Indian Railways’ engineering marvels completed the arch bottom of the Chenab bridge. The arch upper of the Chenab bridge is in making and will be completed soon. The bridge will soar 359 above the bed of the river and will be 30 meters higher than the iconic Eiffel Tower in Paris.

The Railway ministry shared the news on social media. The ministry posted the video clip of the “historical moment.” “The arch bottom of the Chenab bridge has been completed yesterday. Next, the arch upper of the engineering marvel in making will be completed,” the department tweeted. “It is all set to be the world's highest Railway bridge,” they added while concluding their post.
 
The World’s Highest Bridge is being built across river Chenab. The bridge being built between the Bakkal and Kauri in the Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir. The bridge will connect Kashmir with the rest of the country.
The Deck height that is the height above the river bed is 359 meters while the height above the river surface is 322 meters. The total length of the bridge is 1315 meters. The river is having a central span of 467 meters. It is being built at the height of 359 meters from the river bed. The maximum design wind speed of the bridge is 266 kmph.
The base support of the bridge was completed in November 2017 after which the construction of the main arch started.
