Ahead of WB elections, TMC goons brutally thrash BJP worker, his mother?

Kolkata, Mar 1: A Bharatiya Janata Party ( BJP ) worker and his mother were brutally thrashed by Trinamool Congress (TMC) workers as they broke into his house and attacked him and his octogenarian mother. BJP worker Gopal Majumdar from the Nimta area in the North 24 Paraganas district has alleged that three TMC workers attacked his house and attacked his mother in the wee hours on Saturday.

"They hit me on my head and neck. They punched on my face too. I am scared. They asked me not to tell anyone about it. My whole body is in pain," Shova Majumdar, the mother of BJP worker Gopal Majumdar told to the news agency. In an interview, she was struggling to speak and was still suffering the effects of the assault. The old woman's eyes were swollen and her face had a sick dark hue.

Shobha Majumder says that her entire body was paining. She made it clear that she was attacked by Trinamool workers. She has pushed around and beaten and said that they were warned not to speak about the incident. She also says that she did not recognize the people who assaulted her.
 
 
 
“They pushed my mother and she has been injured…After attacking us, they left the house. I am a member of the local BJP Mandal (BJP committee). They first assaulted us with bare hands and then hit on my head with the hood of a revolver. After that, I fell down on the ground. They kicked and assaulted me further,” her son had said.

An FIR has been registered in the local police station. An investigation into the matter is currently underway. It should be noted that political violence has been regularly making headlines in poll-bound West Bengal. With elections only a month away, the assault on Shobha Majumder and her son only emphasizes the fact that political violence remains a very legitimate threat in West Bengal.
 
Besides, The BJP office in the Baranagar area of North Parganas district in West Bengal was vandalized on Friday night as well, the day when the Election Commission sounded the poll bugle in the state.

The elections for the 294 Assembly seats in West Bengal will begin on March 27. The state is going to witness eight-phase Assembly polls this year.
