Hyderabad Task Force unearth fake Aadhar Card racket; 8 held

According to the police team investigating the case, out of the eight arrested accused three of them are businessmen while five others work in private firms.

Hyderabad, December 25: In a major development, Hyderabad Task Force jointly with the Golconda police has successfully unearthed an Aadhar card enrolment-cum-corrections scam that functional in the city and arrested eight accused. The suspects used unauthorized Aadhaar kits with Assam identity proofs and updated the Aadhaar card details of customers.

As per the report, the accused were involved in 7,000 illegal Aadhaar card enrolments/data changes by uploading fake documents. The accused have been identified as MA Rabbani, Syed Mustafa, Azhar Shareef, Sohail, Jahangir Pasha, Nitesh Singh, Anwaruddin, and Ahmad. Reportedly, one of the suspects who has been identified as Pavan (35) is absconding.
 
According to the police team investigating the case, out of the eight arrested accused three of them are businessmen while five others work in private firms. In order to make forged Aadhaar cards, the accused procured six Aadhaar kits consisting of laptops, cameras, iris, and fingerprint scanners.
 
 
While commenting on the bust, Hyderabad police commissioner Anjani Kumar said the gang members obtained six, login IDs from Pavan at a cost of Rs 90,000. Key accused Pavan is an employee of the Aadhaar enrolment agency in Assam, and he used to sell IDs allotted to Assam to these gang members.
 
The gang members used to charge Rs 2,000 to Rs 3,000 from each client in order to provide them with a new Aadhaar. The Task Force officials further noted that Pavan used to get Rs 3,000 per day as commission from the city-based accused. The gang also procured Aadhaar kits individually and started enrollments in their shops.
 
 
“The suspects decided to apply for Aadhaar cards for customers fraudulently, using Assam identity proofs. There is an order from the central government that identity proofs issued for states should be used within the state only. But the suspects with a malicious intention to cheat the government used the identity proofs of Assam residents for Aadhaar enrollments and updation in Hyderabad,” said Anjani Kumar, Police Commissioner, Hyderabad.
