Alappuzha, December 20: In yet another heinous attack on the right-wing worker in a communist state, BJP leader Adv Renjith Sreenivasan was hacked to death at his house in Alappuzha on Sunday morning.
The deceased was the BJP's OBC Morcha state secretary (Kerala) and a member of the BJP state committee. He had also contested State Assembly Elections on the BJP ticket.
According to the reports, the group of people barged into Rejith's house and brutally hacked him to death. The Bharatiya Janata Party has accused the Popular Front of India (PFI) of being involved in Sreenivasan's murder.
The district police have registered a case in the matter and started the initial investigation in the case. A few suspects have been identified and taken into custody. In light of the killings, security has been tightened in the region. Initially, Section 144 was enforced in the Alappuzha district, District Collector A Alexander informed.
Last month, an RSS leader was stabbed to death in Palakkad in a similar manner. The brutal murder of RSS Teneri Mandal Baudhik Pramukh Sanjith on November 15, at 9 am in Mambram Palakkad, was part of a well-orchestrated plot.
Reacting to the incident, BJP leaders also criticized the Vijayan -led LDF government for the lack of law and order.
Union Minister of State for External Affairs V Muraleedharan said that 'Islamic terrorist' activities are on a rise in the state. He termed the incident a failure of the state's intelligence system and law and order mechanism.
BJP National General Secretary CT Ravi on Sunday accused the CPI(M)-led Kerala government of "turning 'God's Own Country' into Jihadis Paradise".
