New Delhi, Dec 18: Senior RSS leader and Patron of Muslim Rashtriya Manch (MRM) Dr. Indresh Kumar said that religious conversions always cause social conflicts and tensions and pose a serious threat to country’s unity. He supported the proposed move of the Karnataka Government to bring about legislation in the state assembly to ban religious conversion.

In conversion with PTI-Bhasha, Indresh Kumar also supported the move of the government to enact a law to ban ‘Love Jihad’ in the state. The BJP Government in Karnataka may bring in the legislation banning religious conversion in the current winter session of the state legislature.

The proposed law will have provision for penal fine and those willing to convert will be required to intimate the deputy commissioner at least two months prior to converting to another religion and seek permission to do so. The converted person may lose the facility like reservation associated with his or her original dharma.

When asked about this move of the Karnataka Government Indresh Kumar said that converting anyone to a different religion is inhuman and against the spirit of constitution. This creates conflict within the religions and also poses a threat to social unity and integrity of the country. Religious conversion is a sin, a crime and dishonesty with God. If it goes on unabated the government will have to bring a law to stop such inhuman and sinful acts and those who would oppose this would be named as non-believers towards God.

When his attention was drawn to a statement by Karnataka Energy Minister Sunil Kumar who advocated for a stricter law against ‘Love Jihad’, Indresh Kumar said that if someone hides his religious identity, loves a girl, marries her and then inflict injuries upon her in various ways, indulge in violence and cruelty then this is love jihad. Love jihad is enemy of human relations, he said and when people do not desist from such inhuman and anti-human activities, the only recourse if the law, he said.
