Kolkata, Nov 19: There have been allegations going around BSF especially coming from Mamata Banerjee-led government. In a latest development, BJP leader Anirban Ganguly had to send a legal notice to filmmaker and leftist Aparna Sen for calling BSF personnel “murderers” and “rapists”. He has also sought an unconditional apology from her.
Ganguly said, "I have issued a notice through my lawyer to Smt Aparna Sen asking her to issue an unconditional apology for terming the @BSF_India, a force which indulges in “rape” & “murder”. Her behavior is obnoxious, toxic, vicious & disgusting. She speaks the language of India’s enemies."
In the letter, he said, "Undoubtedly, such spoken representation is enough to bring hatred against the entire BSF with each of its soldiers and equally contemptuous which would ssurely excite disaffection against the Union of India and its recruited BSF who devote and dedicate their live to control the border of our country - our motherland".
Notably, the national award-winning director and Padma Shri awardee made such statements against BSF at an event held at the Press Club in Kolkata on Monday. Sen further stated that the military is being given more power than it should get, and also urged the West Bengal government to think about the people living at the border regions so that they can do trade and farming as per their choices.
Besides, the opposition parties had been creating chaos after the central government decided to shift the BSF’s jurisdiction in border areas from the erstwhile 15 km to 50 km in some states, including Punjab and West Bengal.
