Mumbai, October 20: Major blow to Aryan Khan as he is going to spend some more days in the Jail. The special Mumbai court has once again rejected the bail application filed by the 23-year-old son of Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan in the drugs-on-cruise case.
The court had reserved its verdict after hearing arguments on Wednesday and Thursday. The bail application of all three accused including Aryan, Arbaaz Merchant, and Munmun Dhamecha has been rejected in relation to the cruise party drugs case.
During the hearing, senior advocate Amit Desai with advocate Satish Maneshinde made submissions on behalf of Aryan Khan. The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) had opposed the bail application filed by the three accused on the grounds that they were suspected of illicit drug trafficking and criminal conspiracy under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
The drugs controlling agency stated to the court that both Aryan Khan (Accused no 1) and his friend Arbaaz Merchant (Accused no 2) had traveled on the cruise with "common intent" of drug consumption. From the investigation conducted so far, it has been found that 'Aryan Khan was involved in illicit procurement and consumption of drugs,' the NCB told the court.
After the verdict was announced, NCB official Sameer Wankhede was reported saying, "Satyameva Jayate". Meanwhile, Aryan's lawyer Satish Maneshinde has moved the Bombay High Court against the order. The court will most likely hear the case at 10.30 am tomorrow.
The trio is presently in judicial custody. While Aryan Khan and Merchant are lodged at the Arthur Road prison in Mumbai, Dhamecha is lodged at the Byculla women's prison. Aryan Khan and others accused in the case have been booked for offenses under Sections 8(c), 20(b), 27, 28, 29, and 35 of the NDPS Act. This came after the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Mumbai on Wednesday submitted Khan's WhatsApp chats reportedly with a debut actress to the court.
