Popular Bhajan Singer Narendra Chanchal passes away, PM Modi pays tribute

New Delhi, January 22: Well-known bhajan singer Narendra Chanchal passed away at the age of 76 after suffering from brain complications in Delhi on Friday. The bhajan veteran breathed his last at 12:15 pm at Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals in New Delhi following some health complications.

Singer Daler Mehndi took to Twitter to announce the singer’s demise. According to the family members the He was sick for the last 3 months and was undergoing treatment in the hospital. He had been in and out of the hospital on multiple occasions in the past months.
 
 
 
Chanchal was known for his religious songs and bhajans. Apart from performing at live events for a large part of his career, Chanchal’s songs like “Chalo Bulava Aaya Hai” from Avtaar and “Beshak Mandir Masjid Todo” from Bobby became immensely popular. He won the Filmfare Award for Best Male Singer for Bobby.
 
He also earned honorary citizenship of the US state of Georgia. Chanchal has released an autobiography called Midnight Singer which narrates his life, struggles, and hardships leading to achievements.
 
 
Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter and wrote, "Extremely saddened to hear the news of Narendra Chanchal Ji's death. He made a mark in the world of devotional songs. My condolences to his family and fans."
