US Presidential Inauguration! All you need to know about the Presidents' swearing-in events

Washington DC, January 20: The United States is all set to historical day as newly elected Joe Biden and Kamala Harris is ready to take oath as the 46th President of the United States and as the first woman Vice President respectively. The swearing-in ceremony is scheduled for later in the morning on the West Front of the Capitol in Washington. Kamala Harris will first be sworn in as vice president by Justice Sonia Sotomayor.

Biden will be sworn in as the 46th president of the United States by United States Chief Justice John Roberts while US Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor will deliver the oath to Harris. Interestingly, Joe will take the oath on his 127-year-old family Bible, which will be held by his wife and First Lady-elect Jill Biden. The inaugural ceremonies are expected to begin officially around 11:30 a.m. ET. Only about 1,000 people are expected to attend the inauguration included members of Congress.
 
 
 
Following which Biden will deliver his inaugural speech laying down the vision of his administration. Biden will lay out the vision for his administration over the next four years. He will elaborate on his plans to fight the Covid-19 pandemic, strengthen the economy and unify the nation.
 
 
 
 
The ceremony will feature a musical performance from Jennifer Lopez, and Lady Gaga will sing the national anthem. Garth Brooks is also expected to perform. After that Harris and Biden will then conduct a review of the military and visit Arlington National Cemetery to lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknowns. Former President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama, former President George W. Bush and Laura Bush, and former President Bill Clinton and Secretary Hillary Clinton are also expected to attend the event.
 
After that, Biden and Harris will finally head to the White House. President Donald Trump will leave Washington on Wednesday morning, just before President-elect Joe Biden’s inauguration.

The Biden Inaugural Committee will broadcast an official Livestream of all events on its website, YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, and Twitch. The White House will also stream the inauguration live.
 
Though the event will be much different from that of past years due to coronavirus pandemic, one thing will be the same - the date. January 20 has been the date of the swearing-in since 1937 when Franklin D Roosevelt took the oath of office for his second term.
