"PUBG Corporation fully understands and respects the measures taken by the government as the privacy and security of player data is a top priority for the company. It hopes to work hand-in-hand with the Indian government to find a solution that will allow gamers to once again drop into the battlegrounds while being fully compliant with Indian laws and regulations," the game maker said.

"In light of recent developments, PUBG Corporation has decided to no longer authorize the PUBG MOBILE franchise to Tencent Games in India. Moving forward, PUBG Corporation will take on all publishing responsibilities within the country. As the company explores ways to provide its own PUBG experience for India in the near future, it is committed to doing so by sustaining a localized and healthy gameplay environment for its fans," it further added.

The game maker said that it has seen an overwhelming amount of support for the game from the country's player base and would like to thank the community for their passion and enthusiasm.

PUBG Mobile is not a Chinese company. PUBG is an online multiplayer battle royale game made by South Korean video game company Bluehole subsidiary PUBG Corporation. However, PUBG Mobile and PUBG Mobile Lite were created in a collaboration between PUBG Corporation and Tencent Games. Tencent a Chinese company has a 1.5% stake in it.

The gaming company also added that PUBG Corporation is committed to providing its unique battle royale experience to a global audience and hopes to continue engaging with its passionate player base in India. In addition to regular content updates, the company is exploring different ways to engage its community in India through various region-based activities, including esports and community events.

Last week, the Government of India has banned 118 apps including PUBG Mobile. These apps have now been removed from the Play Store and App Store. The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has banned these apps invoking its power under Section 69A of the Information Technology Act. It said the decision was taken amid the growing nature of threats.

The ban of PlayerUnknown`s Battlegrounds (PUBG) is being seen as a result of the increasing tension on the diplomatic front and borders between India and China. Apart from that, Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar announced a made-in-India alternative to PUBG Mobile called FAU-G Fearless and United-Guards.
