Lack of availability of milk? We'll give you cows

Lucknow, Sept 18: In order to upgrade the lowered level of malnourishment of children and women in the state, the Uttar Pradesh Government under Poshan Abhiyan will be giving cows to families with malnourished children. Due to lack of availability of milk to poor families, the government has taken a unique step by providing these families with cows and also Rs 30 per day for maintenance.

Third Rashtriya Poshan Maah is being celebrated in September 2020 linking to several initiatives taken up by various state governments to increase the nourishment of malnourished children and women of their states. In Uttar Pradesh, since it was observed that access to milk is difficult for poor families, the state government has come up with a peculiar undertaking of providing cows to families who are willing to accept them as well as have enough space for them.
 
According to the order issued to all district magistrates of states by Bhuvnesh Kumar, Principal Secretary Animal Husbandry Department, along with providing cows, the government will also be giving an amount of Rs 30 per day through Direct Benefit Transfer ( DBT ) scheme, to the families to look after the cow.
 
Families who are willing to personally choose the cow for their family have also been facilitated to do so. The cow will be given to the respective family in the presence of a public representative.
