New Delhi, August 07:After the Central Government accepted the Bihar Government's probe, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) took over the investigation into actor Sushant Singh Rajput (SSR) death case registered an FIR in the case against 6 persons including Sushant’s former girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty.
Apart from Rhea, the FIR has been lodged against, Dr. Indrajit Chakraborty, Sandhya Chakraborty, Showik Chakraborty, Samuel Miranda, Shruti Modi, and others involved in the case. The case will be probed by the Special Investigation team which involves Gujarat Cadre IPS officers Manoj Shashidhar and Gangandip Gambhir to probe the case. They will supervise the case. The case has been registered under IPC 341, 342, 380, 406, 420, 306, 506 and 120 B. Additional Superintendent of Police Anil Kumar Yadav has been named as the Investigating Officer (IO) in the case.
The Central Bureau of Investigation got in touch with the Bihar Police to collect all the details from their investigation in the matter. This comer after Rajput's father KK Singh and the Bihar police alleged a cover-up by the Mumbai police. They have accused the Mumbai police of destroying evidence and deliberately ignoring leads in the case in an attempt to derail it. Meanwhile, Rhea Chakraborty's lawyer, Satish Maneshinde released a statement and called the CBI investigation 'illegal' and asserted that only if Maharashtra Government allows, CBI should probe the case.
Moreover, Enforcement Directorate is also probing the financial angle in the case after Sushant’s father had alleged that money from his son’s account was transferred to other accounts that do not belong to Sushant. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has summoned actor Rhea Chakraborty for questioning on August 7 in connection. However, Rhea Chakraborty has requested the Enforcement Directorate to postpone her statement recording till the Supreme Court hearing.
On 5 August the while hearing Rhea's plea seeking transfer of the case from Patna to Mumbai, the SC gave the Maharasthra government and police three days' time to put on record all details pertaining to the probe on Sushant Singh Rajput's death. The Court assured that the concern raised by the late actor's family about the Mumbai Police destroying evidence should be taken care of. The apex court pulled up the Mumbai authorities for quarantining the IPS officer from Patna, Bihar, and said that it did not send a good message as all eyes were on the case.
