Jammu, Mar 30: Every Muslim has a dream to perform the Haj once in lifetime. She is also no exception to this. Begum Khalida too had a dream to perform Haj. And she collected enough money for this.
But, moved by the plight of people affected by #Coronavirus, she decided to donate that money to the service of humanity in the distressed times.
Impressed by the yeoman’s service rendered by the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), she decided to donate the entire amount so collected to RSS-inspired Seva Bharati for serving those affected by #Coronavirus.
The 87-year-old Begum Khalida had collected Rs five lakh which she donated to Seva Bharti.
Begum Khalida is mother of Farukh Khan, Advisor to the Lt. Governor of Jammu G C Murmu. Showing magnanimity of heart, she dropped her plan to go for the Haj and instead donated this amount to Seva Bharti Jammu unit to help the #Coronavirus victims.
Began Khalida presented the cheque of Rs five lakh drawn on Jammu Kashmir Bank to Seva Bharati. It may be mentioned that she is one amongst the few women of the state who had attended the English medium school seventy years ago in Jammu & Kashmir.
She is daughter-in-law of former president of J & K Jansangh Col Pir Mohammad. He was made president of Jansangh following the demise of Pt. Prem Nath Dogra. Begum Khalida belongs to a soldier’s family. Her father Col Abdul Rahim Khan was an officer in Maharaja’s army in J & K.
