New Delhi, March 23: Waking ahead in the novel corona virus, the Indian Banks' Association (IBA) on Monday urged and appealed the mass community to wash hands after touching or counting currency. Further it has also asked the customers to use the online and mobile banking channels for making transactions.
"Avoid visiting bank branches as it could pose a risk to banks' front desk staff. It also appealed to customers to visit branch premises only in the case of absolute necessity. Use mobile banking channels and online banking modes for making transactions", the IBA said. It also advised banks to use digital platform for lending.
Launching the campaign ''Corona Se Daro Na, Digital Karo Na', the banking association is taking responsible efforts to fight the novel corona virus in India. It is in the last week that the Reserve Bank of India asked the employees to work from home in the wake of the novel coronavirus outbreak in India.
The central bank’s measures are in line with an administrative order passed by the Mumbai government in order to contain the virus. RBI also assured that all urgent meetings regarding matters of financial stability will go on as usual and will be done via video conferencing.
The state has been the worst-hit in terms of positive cases as the overall number rises to 369 as on Sunday evening. Of the 6 people who died after testing positive, two were Mumbai residents, three from Andhra and one each from Delhi and Uttar Pradesh.
