Army Chief receives Guard of Honour at South Korea's Army Headquarters

Seoul, Dec 31: Indian Army Chief General MM Naravane, who is on a three-day visit to the Republic of Korea, received a Guard of Honour at Army Headquarters. He also called on General Nam Yeong Shin, Chief of Staff of the Republic of Korea Army and discussed issues of bilateral defence cooperation. The visit aims to further strengthen strategic & defence cooperation between the countries.

"General MM Naravane #COAS received a Guard of Honour at ROK Army Headquarters #Gyeryong #RepublicofKorea. #COAS also called on General Nam Yeong shin, Chief of Staff of the Republic of Korea Army and discussed issues of bilateral defence cooperation," the Indian Army said.
 
Further, it added, "30th Armoured Brigade & #DMZ #RepublicofKorea. During the three day visit to #RepublicofKorea, #COAS met senior military & civilian leadership of the #RepublicofKorea & discussed avenues for enhancing India – Republic of Korea defence relations."
 
Veena Naravane, wife of Army Chief and other delegates visited Korean Nurses Association (KNA), Republic of Korea and appreciated the yeoman service rendered by KNA to humanity.
 
Army Chief had begun his three-day official visit to the Republic of Korea (ROK) by paying tributes to Bravehearts at the National Cemetery. Later, the Army Chief will also visit the Korea Combat Training Centre in Inje Country, Gangwon Province and Advance Defence Development (ADD) at Daejeon.
 
He also visited War Memorial at Seoul. "We remember the humanitarian assistance by 60 Para Field Ambulance and the contributions of Custodian Force of India during the Korean War," the Indian Army said. Further, during the first-ever visit of an Indian Army Chief to ROK, General MM Naravane interacted with Minister of National Defence Suh Wook and discussed issues of mutual interest & defence cooperation.
 
The visit like other recent ones to foreign countries is aimed at enhancing military diplomacy. The Indian Army chief earlier this month visited United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Saudi Arabia from 9 to 14 December as part of India’s military diplomacy in the neighbourhood. This was the first visit by an Indian Army Chief to these two countries. Recently the Army Chief had visited Nepal and also accompanied Foreign Secretary Harsh Shringla to Myanmar.
