On the occasion, the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand Trivendra Singh Rawat has inaugurated the hot Air Balloon Festival in Mussorie. Apart from that, the state has also organized the 'Majestic Uttarakhand' photo exhibitions and a cycling event named as ‘Heal with Wheels’ where CM Rawat also cycled for some distance.

The state is known as the 'Land of Gods' or 'Dev Bhumi' because of the presence of number of Hindu places of great importance and the Chhota Char Dham circuit, which are the core of Uttarakhand's tourism. It was named ‘Uttaranchal’ during its foundation in 2000 but later, it was renamed to Uttarakhand in 2007.
The first demand for a separate state of Uttarakhand arose in 1930. In 1994, the demand for a separate state took shape that led to a strong mass movement that eventually resulted in the formation of the Uttarakhand state in 2000.
