Akshay Kumar files Rs 500 Cr defamation suit against YouTuber

Mumbai, November 19: Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar has filed a 500-crore defamation suit against a YouTuber named Rashid Siddiqui, for linking his name to the Sushant Singh Rajput case while spreading fake news.

Kumar has sought a public apology and ₹500 cr for mental agony and loss of reputation. According to the lawsuit the YouTuber used digital media to allegedly mislead people and spread fake news about several celebrities.

In one video Siddiqui alleged that the actor had "secret meetings" with Aditya Thackeray and the Mumbai Police. He also claimed that the actor was unhappy with Sushant getting big films like "MS Dhoni: The Untold Story".
 
Siddiqui had also alleged that Akshay with late actor Sushant`s girlfriend, actress Rhea Chakraborty, claiming that the actor helped Rhea to escape to Canada. Rashid Siddiqui, a 25-year-old civil engineer, and YouTuber from Bihar.
 
It is not the first time, Siddiqui was earlier arrested for spreading fake news and dragging the name of Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and his son, minister Aditya Thackeray, in the case. However, court granted him anticipatory bail and asked him to cooperate with the police in the investigation.
