According to Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu, an Israeli delegation will travel to Sudan in the coming days after the two countries have agreed to take steps in order to normalize their ties. The agreement was mediated with the help of the United States. The U.S. President Donald Trump’s decision this week to remove Sudan from the U.S. list of state sponsors of terrorism has paved way for the accord.

The country has a history of no international recognition because of the Palestine conflict which has kept the country at a bay with significant international diplomatic partnerships. Egypt was the first country to recognize Israel. After Egypt, Jordan recognized Israel by establishing peace deal with the country. UAE has signed a peace deal with Israel quite recently, after 26 years becoming the third country to do so. And after that, Bahrain became the fourth country to sign a peace deal with Israel.

Establishment of Israel was first proclaimed by the head of Jewish agency David Ben Gurion on May 14, 1948. Following that, US President Harry Truman recognized Israel on the same day. Earlier, the Balfour declaration of 1917 had favored the establishment of a Separate Jewish Nation.

However, after the United Nations was formed, a resolution was passed that divided the Palestinian mandate into Jewish state and Arab state, after which Arab countries were reluctant of recognizing Israel as an independent state. Therefore, the recent developments between Israel and Arabic countries are historic in the geo - political scenario of the Middle East.
