Srinagar, September 30: A true example of fearless leadership, a warrior and exemplifying a glimpse of ‘New India’ a video went viral where SSP of Ramban Anita Sharma is seen asking terrorists to surrender ahead of the encounter. In the video, SSP Sharma is seen assuring the terrorist identified as Osama that he will be given a chance to speak with whoever he wants to and urging him to come out. She also tells him to release the civilians and send with them the terrorists' weapons.

The incident took place in Batote town of the Ramban district where three terrorists were neutralised. The officials played a commendable role in rescuing the hostages safe in the joint operation conducted by Army, Jammu and Kashmir police and CRPF officials in the Jammu-Srinagar Highway town. Speaking to the media, Jammu Inspector General of Police (IG) Mukesh Singh said, “Three terrorists have been killed. The hostage has been rescued. Two police officials sustained bullet injuries and an Army personnel died. Operation is over now. They are the same terrorists who were seen in the morning.”

Despite repeated attempts to make the terrorists surrender, the terrorists tried to escape from the house while firing indiscriminately on the forces and were eliminated in the encounter, they said. "All the three terrorists were killed in the gunfight, while an army soldier also achieved martyrdom," Jammu-based Army PRO Lt Col Devender Anand said.

The success for security forces comes days after Inspector General of Police, Jammu, Mukesh Singh said that four cases of killings and weapon snatching in Kishtwar district have been solved with the arrest of three Hizbul Mujahideen activists. While naming Osama and five other terrorists, the IGP had on September 23 said the security forces are after them and they will be brought to book soon. As the pressure on terrorists increased in Kishtwar, Osama and the other two terrorists tried to escape from the district and had reportedly spent the night at an abandoned temporary shelter on the highway before being confronted by security forces, the officials said.
