Major announcement: No need to wait for 180 days, NRIs will get Aadhaar card immediately

New Delhi, September 21: Non-resident Indians holding Indian passports will no longer have to wait 180 days to get their Aadhaar card made. Rather, NRIs will now be able to get Aadhaar cards with immediate effect. The Union government has announced this before Prime Minister Narendra Modi leaves for US visit on Friday.


 

According to the information, the Central Government has also issued a notification regarding making Aadhaar Card available to NRIs immediately. In the notification issued by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology of the Central Government, it has been said that NRIs will be able to get Aadhaar card when they come to India. However, this rule will be applicable to NRIs who hold valid Indian passports.



 


 

The notification of the Union Ministry also states that this rule will come into force with immediate effect from the date of issue of notification i.e. 20 September.
