Turning the hearts sick..! Distinctive artist Dinyar Contractor who carved smiles, waves the world off

New Delhi, June 5: Waking up sick at hearts, the account of death of veteran comedian and actor Dinyar Contractor, turned the film industry to feel wistful. The actor who has been a part of shows like Khichdi and Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, had been suffering from various age-related illnesses, breathing last at 79 on Wednesday.

 
 
Expressing grief over the veteran’s demise, PM Narendra Modi highlighted his versatility and distinctive feature that brought smile on several faces. “Padma Shri Dinyar Contractor was special because he spread lots of happiness. His versatile acting brought smiles on several faces”, he said.
“Be it theatre, television or films, he excelled across all mediums. Saddened by his demise. My thoughts are with his family and admirers”, the Prime Minister added sharing his beautiful picture over the social media.
 
Actor turned politician Smriti Irani also took to social media mourning over his demise. Sharing that Contractor brought bursts of laughter wherever he went and that he lit up the screen and their lives, Irani shared that he will be deeply missed.
"He brought bursts of laughter with him wherever he went, he lit up the screen and our lives with his wit & charm. We will miss your presence Dinyar bhai. Rest in Peace Padma Shri Dinyar Contractor - theatre legend, actor par excellence”, she tweeted.

 
Contractor started acting in school and began his professional acting career in 1966. The veteran comedian is an acclaimed theatre artist and has acted in various Gujarati as well as Hindi plays. He started working on television programs when Mumbai Doordarshan launched their DD-2 channel in Mumbai with a Gujarati show called Aao Marvao Meri Saathe.
 
Dinyar Contractor's last rites will be performed later in the day in Worli at 3.30pm. The veteran actor was conferred with the Padma Shri on 2019 and was presented the award by Ramnath Kovind, President of India.
