New Delhi, June 29: Commending for their exuberant work performance as saviours, Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday assured the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Forces (SDRF) of all assistance from the Centre to strengthen and upgrade the force.
Addressing the annual conference, Amit Shah urged the NDRF to collaborate with the DRDO to upgrade their equipment to make them indigenous in next five years. He asserted that the indigenously developed equipment is must so that India can take a lead in disaster response.
Further speaking on capacity building of State Disaster Response Forces' in consultation with Home Guards, Civil Defence and Fire Services in New Delhi. The Home Minister said, NDRF should have further expertise in the area of disaster response as India is a natural disaster-prone country. He also said, the force should have world-class technologies and equipments.
The Home Minister lauded the NDRF for its good work over the years. Director General of NDRF S N Pradhan said, the force and other agencies have been able to save precious lives in the past. He said, the force has also taken several initiatives to enhance its capabilities as fast as bore well incidents are concerned. He said, the NDRF is also conducting several awareness programs to prevent tragedies.
