Crisis to TDP Deepens: Four TDP Members Join BJP

Amaravati, June 20: The news is good one for the BJP but it is equally bad for the Telugu Desam Party (TDP). Four out of six Rajya Sabha Members of Parliament have just joined the BJP. TDP’s S Chowdary, CM Ramesh, TG Venkatesh, today formally joined the BJP in presence of party’s working president J. P. Nadda. Another TDP MP will formally join later as he is unwell now.

 

The Four TDP members will give the BJP an extra edge in the upper house of the Parliament where the BJP, unlike Lok Sabha doesn’t enjoy simple majority. Two thirds of the party’s strength is going to merge with BJP is unlikely to invite penalties under the anti-defection law. It has deepened the crisis to Chandrababu Naidu’ Telgu Desam Party.
