Ujjain, June 19: One of the dreams of late Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ji that is to inter-link rivers nationally has got a start as Narmada-Shipra Link Project saw successful thumbs up in Madhya Pradesh which will quench the thirst of Ujjain. Ex-CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan had cut the ribbon to insert pipeline between Narmada-Shipra has been successfully tested. This pipeline will be able to reach 2.2 cusec water in Ujjain's Triveni Barrage in one second from the site of Shipra.

To extinguish Ujjain's thirst, so far only one dam was the only support. In the Narmada-Shipra link scheme, water loss was more in bringing water to Dewas to Ujjain if brought in open so it was decided with the project of 139 crores to insert 66.17 km long pipeline from Shipra's origin point to Ujjain.

The ex-BJP state government had started the work of putting 1325 mm pipeline in January 2018, which was tested on Friday. Successful testing was done after leaving water from Pipe Line on Shakkarvasa Point in Triveni Barrage in Ujjain.

In the middle of the whole line, there is no substation. By the same line, the supply of 11 MLD will be added by connecting Vikram Udyog Puri. Shipra Barrage of Dewas has also been added from this line. This line will also be taken to Gaughat Baraj of Ujjain, which will prevent the wastage of water directly and can be used for drinking purpose. One of the best parts is that the work has been completed in the prescribed time period.

In one hour, 7 thousand 920 cumulative water of Narmada through the pipeline is to Ujjain will be delivered.
