New Delhi, June 14: The first ever batch of this year to the Mt Kailash, on its way through Lipulekh route on June 13 reached ITBP Camp at Mirthi. The 58-member batch was flagged off a couple of days back from the Jawaharlal Nehru Bhawan in New Delhi. EAM Jaishankar had then felicitated the Yatris on their selection and wished them a safe journey and a fulfilling Yatra.
Back then he had extended his gratitude towards the Chinese government who selflessly helped Inida in organising the Yatra. “This is the superlative way of enhancing people to people exchange”, he had said then.
He also recorded the appreciation for support and cooperation received from many other ministries and agencies of India and particularly for the State Governments of Uttarakhand, Sikkim and Delhi in the successful organization of this yatra.
“Fully motor-able Nathula road has been opened for the pilgrims on their way to yatra where those elderlies who are unable to exert more will find it much easier route to reach Mt. Kailash”, EAM Shankar added.
The yatra is considered one of the most difficult pilgrimages in the world although it passes through what is both difficult territory but also beautiful territory. Mount Kailash, located near Lake Manasarovar and Lake Rakshastal forms part of the Transhimalaya in the Tibet Autonomous Region of China. It is considered to be sacred in all four of the religions named Bon, Buddhism, Hinduism and Jainism.
Every year, thousands make a pilgrimage to Kailash, following a tradition going back thousands of years. Pilgrims of several religions believe that circumambulating Mount Kailash on foot is a holy ritual that will bring good fortune.
