Promising progressive development, Pema Khandu sworn in as the Chief Minister for second term

Itanagar, May 29: With Bharatiya Janata Party swaying its magic with electoral victory, the Northeast states had made its decision clear. For Arunachal Pradesh dwelling in assembly polls, BJP leader Pema Khandu has sworn-in as the Chief Minister for the second consecutive term.

Along with Pema Khandu, 11 other ministers of the cabinet were also sworn in. Governor Dr. BD Mishra administered the oath of office and secrecy to the council of ministers.

Earlier on Monday, Pema Khandu was elected the state BJP legislature party’s leader following which he met Governor Brigadier BD Mishra in the afternoon to stake claim to form the government and handed letter of support by the 41 state BJP MLAs. On Sunday, the governor had accepted Khandu’s resignation and requested him and the council of ministers to continue till a new government is sworn in.

The BJP led by Khandu won 41 seats in the 60-member Assembly, in the elections held simultaneously with the Lok Sabha elections on April 11 in the northeastern state bordering China.
