Doha, April 25: India finished with 18 medals in Asian Athletics Championships 2019. India bagged four medals, including a Gold, on the final day of the Asian Athletics Championships at Doha in Qatar yesterday. Indian athletes won India 3 Gold, 8 Silver & 7 Bronze in this tournament. PU Chitra struck gold in women’s 1500m (clocking 4:14.56) at the 23rd Asian Athletics Championships in Doha on Tuesday With this win, she also qualified for World Championships which will be held later in the year.

“Got a little nervous towards the end being next to Bahraini runner (Gashaw Tigest). She beat me to third place in Asian Games. I had to really push hard in the end,” she said moments after the win.
India’s medal rush continued with 4 X 400m Women’s relay team comprising Prachi, MR Poovamma, Saritaben Gayakwad & VK Vismaya securing the silver medal. Prior to that, Dutee Chand clinched the bronze medal in women’s 200m sprint She achieved the podium finish with a timing of 23.24 seconds. With never give up attitude Dutee Chand covered a lot of ground to finish third in 23.24s & grab a medal for #India
India won one more Silver in Men's 4x400 relay team comprising Kunhu Md.,KS Jeevan, Md. Anas and Arokia Rajiv finish second with a time of 3:03.28
4*400m relay women won Silver Medal for #India. Indian team lost the Gold after the year 2013. Indian clocked 3:32.21s.
Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh Congratulate Gomathi Marimathu for winning Gold in Women's 800m and Moga boy Tajinder Singh for clinching Gold in Men's Shot Put in the Asian games.
Gomathi Marimuthu won India's first gold medal of the Asian Athletics Championships 2019, finishing the 800m final with a personal best timing of 2:20.70s and Tajinder Singh Toor followed it up with a gold in men's shot put.
