Bridging friendship, Assam CM Sarbananda Sonowal inaugurates re-constructed Assam Bhawan helping students, tourists

New Delhi, March 4: Giving it a sleek well compressed look, Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal inaugurated the re-constructed Assam Bhawan in New Delhi that intends to help the students, patients and tourists from Assam who visit New Delhi.

Speaking on the occasion, Assam Chief Minister Sonowal termed the day as an important day in the history of Assam. “The Assam Bhawan in New Delhi is not just a Bhawan, it a bridge of friendship and camaraderie between Assam and New Delhi. Several students, patients and people from different sections face encumbrances with food and lodging while visiting Delhi NCR for various purposes. With the inauguration of the Bhawan, these issues can be addressed to a great extent.”

 

The new Assam house will provide upgraded facilities to the natives of state who usually visit New Delhi for work or any other official purpose. Moreover, the new Assam house will highly cater to the need of the students, professionals, and patients of the state.

The architecturally rich Assam house is designed in such a way that it reflects the rich and colourful heritage of the state. Cultural performance by a Bihu troupe from Assam and others formed an essential part of the inaugural ceremony.

CM Sonowal, said, "This is a newly constructed building and it should be dedicated to the people of Assam with all modern facilities. I am thankful to all the offices and the builders', everybody has extended their sincere efforts, as a result, a beautiful structure has come out in the heart of the national capital. This is one of the biggest assets Assam and I believe people from all the sections will get benefit out of this house."

"The new Assam house has got five-star facilities; it has got 74 rooms and a very good conference room. For the students we have 7 dormitories, each dormitory has 5-6 beds. Lot of students and non-officials come to Delhi, I am sure that with this facility many of them will be benefited", added Niraj Verma, Resident Commissioner, Assam House.
