Patna, March 20: Ensuring free and fair upcoming Lok Sabha polls, Fifty-five companies of central paramilitary forces have been deployed in different parts of Bihar. Strict vigil is being maintained in Naxal-affected districts of Aurangabad, Gaya, Nawada and Jamui where the first phase of elections will be held on the 11th of next month.


 

A combing operation has already been launched against Maoists in the affected areas. Flag march is being carried out to instil confidence among the electorate.

Over 30 companies of Central Paramilitary Forces have reached Assam as part of security measures for Lok Sabha elections in the state.

Assam Chief Electoral Officer Mukesh Sahu said security requirements will be reviewed and more forces can be deployed as per need. Assam will go to polls in three phases for 14 seats on 11th, 18th and 23rd of April.

Additionally, with a view to maintaining peace and public order ahead of the upcoming elections, Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 Govt. of Assam has been imposed in the East district of Guwahati. This was ordered by Ramandeep Kaur, Deputy Commissioner of Police, East Police District, Guwahati on March 15. The East Police District of Guwahati covers the area of Dispur, Bhangagarh, Hatigaon, Sonapur and Khetri Police Sation.

In Assam, the polls will take place in three phases on April 11, 18 and 23. A total of 2,17,60,604 eligible voters in Assam are all set to cast their votes in 14 Lok Sabha constituencies of the state.
