New Delhi, Feb 25: The flag does not fly because breeze moves it, it flies with every breath of soldier who lives and dies protecting it. Indian Soldiers are a synonym of bravery and patriotism. Their patriotism not only reflects oath of service but also humanity which is the cornerstone of Indian culture. The remembrance of such brave soldiers always give goosebumps to every Indian, to salute the bravery of these soldiers, Today PM Narendra Modi inaugurates ‘National War Memorial’ to the nation.

 

National War Memorial is a fitting tribute to our soldiers who laid down their lives defending the nation.

PM Narendra Modi dedicates the National War Memorial to the nation in a magnificent ceremonial function today in the presence of Defense Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and State defense Minister Shubhash Bhambre. On this occasion, PM addressed ex-servicemen.

While addressing the occasion, Defense Minister Nirmala sitharaman said, “When you go home, tell them of us, and say for your tomorrow, we gave our today”, these words our fallen heroes always reverberates in our hearts”.

Further, she added, This National War Memorial keep reminding us and generation to come, the valor, the pride and decided selfless service of our soldiers”.

She said, “Post-independence, 22500 soldiers makes a supreme sacrifice in our national interest and in defense of sovereignty and integrity of our nation”.

She expressed, “President of India made a commitment to Build National War Memorial to honor gallantry of our soldiers, today our government has fulfilled that commitment”.

She gave brief details of National War Memorial.

 

PM Modi expressed while addressing the Ex-Servicemen, "I bow my head to the sacrifice of all those brave soldiers who were martyred in the Pulwama Attack, and all those who put everything on the line daily”. He noted that the government "was taking care of the needs of the country's veterans.

He said The country's decades-long wait is about to end. After seven decades of independence, the National war Monument, built in remembrance of those who sacrificed for mother Bharti, is to be dedicated.

While addressing the problems of Servicemen, He stated that We brought One Rank One Pension. India is moving ahead with Nayi Niti, Nayi Riti," the Prime Minister said. He added that Rs 35,000 crores have been given for OROP for ex-servicemen of the nation, noting that the previous governments had failed to implement OROP during their tenure.

Further, he added, Due to OROP, the pension of veterans were increased up to 40%. We are also working on building three super specialty hospitals.

PM Narendra Modi attacked the Congress party while addressing the rally for the inauguration of the National War Memorial. Without naming the Gandhis, he hit out at the Congress leadership, saying, "From Bofors to Rafale, there is only one family behind the deals. These people are now trying to block the Rafale deal." He added, "One family only praised themselves in the last few decades."

We are continuously working towards making the Army self-reliant, the decisions which were thought to be impossible earlier have now been made possible," PM said. He added that the NDA government had reformed defense procurements. "Centre is giving preference to 'Make in India' projects. The world today recognizes our strength," he said.

While addressing the supreme sacrifice of Soldiers, PM said, “Live for the country, die for the country, Live for ‘Tiranga’, die for the ‘Tiranga’. In conclusion, PM Said, Modi is not important, India is above all. Not my name but it should be the stories of valor of the soldiers that should be remembered forever.

He concluded his speech with the chanting of ‘Vande Mataram’ and ‘Jay Hind’.

* This National War Memorial complex has been made in harmony with the existing layout and symmetry of the majestic Rajpath and central vista while maintaining landscaping and simplicity of architecture, exemplifying a sacrifice made by soldiers that make their spirits eternal.

* The National War Memorial commemorates the soldiers who participated and made the supreme sacrifice in Peace Keeping Missions and Counter Insurgency Operations.

* The National War Memorial comprises Four concentric circles, The “Amar Chakra” the circle of Immortality, the “Veerta Chakra” the circle of Bravery, the “Tyag Chakra” the circle of sacrifice and the “Raksha Chakra” the circle of Protection.

*. The Central Obelisk, an eternal flame and six bronze murals depicting famous battles fought by Indian Arm forces are increasing the grandeur of memorial.

* With these, the busts of 21 awardees of Param Veer Chakra have been installed at Param Yoddha Sthal which includes three living awardees Sub Major Bana Singh (Hony Capt), Sub Major Yogendra Singh Yadav and Sub Major Sanjay Kumar.
