Lucknow, December 21: Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath will carry out Ganga Yatra from January 1 to 5, next year to review the cleanliness of Ganga. Starting from Ballia, this Ganga Yatra will end at Kanpur via the Ganga Banks villages. It is proposed to involve the Chief Minister himself in each district in the yatra. Other departments including development have been entrusted with the responsibility of the program. Departmental officers have become alert as the letter is issued from Lok Bhavan.
In the first phase, the Chief Minister will launch the yatra in Ballia district. The distance of 1025 km of Ganga River is to be completed in five days according to 205 km per day. Every day and in every district, a Union Minister will participate. The MLAs will also take a night's rest in all the gram panchayats and civic bodies lying on the banks of the Ganges. The Chief Minister will participate in this yatra in the concerned district. The yatra has also been directed to add well-known social, business, cultural and volunteer organizations of local level working in the area of restoration of rivers and organizations working on the sanctity, avidity of Ganga.
The target of ODF Plus is to be met in urban areas lying on the banks of the Ganges. Simultaneously, sewer, drainage is to be stopped, polythene should be completely stopped and Ganga Aarti has to be identified. In rural areas, the system of Ganga Talab, Ganga Maidan etc. should be equipped. Education Department, Medical and Health, Tourism and Culture Department, Animal Husbandry, Agriculture Department, Horticulture and Forest Department, Environment etc. Department has been given the responsibility.
