Namami Gange achieves another success: UP taps largest sewer line to fall in the river

Lucknow, December 13: Tapping the largest sewer drain in Asia to fall in Ganga, Uttar Pradesh government is taking forward Prime Minister Narendra Modi's mission to clean river Ganga to its logical conclusion. The state government is making all efforts to achieve the aims and objectives of Namami Gange mission. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday visited Kanpur to take stock of preparations for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to the city today for National Ganga Council Meeting.



 

After inspection, He said that Kanpur's Sisamau Nallah was the largest sewer drain in Asia, and for the 120 years the entire sewer of Kanpur city used to fall into this drain has been fully tapped. He said the sewer has been diverted to Sewer Treatment Plant and not a single drop of the sewer is falling in the Ganga.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that Prime Minister Narendra Modiji has taken forward the campaign of Namami Gange for the cleanliness of Maa Ganga.

 

The CM said that dozens of such channels have also been tapped. He said that the water of Ganga used to be completely black for the last 25 years and not a single fish was seen in the river due to pollution, now aquatic life has been revived in Ganga.

Chief Minister also took a selfie on this occasion.
