Kotadwar (Uttarakhand), Nov 21: Inaugurating the first ever five-day Muslim Yoga Sadhana Shivir here at Vaidik Gurukulam located at Kanvashrama Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawt said that yoga is for all humanity and it was wrong to equate it with any particular religion or way of worship. He emphasised practising yoga for healthy body and mind. On this occasion he inaugurated Bharat Smarak in the Vaidik Mahavidyalaya premises.
The Chief Minister further said that yoga is accepted by the world and thus made it above any religion. Prime Minister Modi also gave the similar message to the people regarding yoga. Yoga teachers are being appointed in the health education institutes to make people healthy by the natural healing methods.
Referring to Kanvasharama he said that in view of its historicity and religious importance Prime Minister Modi has decided to develop this as an ‘iconic’ place. He said that a proposal to rename Kotadwar as Kanvanagari Kotadwar will be placed in the cabinet meeting soon.
Swami Chidanand Maharaj of Parmarth Niketan, Rishikesh said that there is a necessity to understand the meaning and strength of ‘Yoga’. Prime Minister has understood the meaning and strength and today 190 countries are celebrating the Yoga DIwas. He said that yoga is not bound to any religion but enjoins all the religions.
Senior RSS functionary and Patron of Muslim Rashtriya Manch (MRM) Indresh Kumar presided over the inaugural function. In his address he said most countries in the world have accepted yoga for better health of body and mind.
He said that communal harmony was not disturbed even after the Supreme Court verdict on Ayodhya dispute came in favour of Sri Ram Mandir. In fact, the verdict has strengthened and consolidated this atmosphere of mutual trust, brotherhood and harmony, he said.
Environment Minister Harak Singh Rawat and vice-president of Gosewa Commission Pt. Rajendra Anathwal, MRM National Convener Mohad Afzal, Adv. Yasir Jilani and others were present on this occasion.
Chancellor of the College Kulpati Yogiraj Dr Vishwapal Jayant taught them Prana Power Yoga, Vajrasana, Shashankasana, Sheershasana, Mayurasana etc. Participants from Canada also joined the yoga practice. Participating in this historical event the Muslim children too endorsed the universality of yoga.
History of sorts was created in Kanvasharama situated at 13 km from Kotadwar in Garhwal region of Uttarkhand on Wednesday when on one side the chanting of Vedic mantras and offering of ‘ahutis’ was going on, on the other side the Muslims were offering ‘namaz’. This marked the beginning of the first ever organised five-day long Muslim Yoga Sadhana Shivir. This was the first such historical occasion when members of the Muslim community participated in the ‘havan-yagya’ and ‘yoga asanas and kriyas’ breaking the barriers of religion and community.
Those who participated in the camp believed that healthy minds resides in a healthy body and hence there was nothing wrong in performing yogasanas to keep the body healthy and fit. ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ has been the tradition of India and this is necessary to safeguard the integrity and unity of the country. By participating in this yoga camp the Muslims have made this occasion a milestone in the way of encouraging communal harmony and fraternity.
