New Delhi, October 05: Focussing on counter terrorism operations, India and Kazakhstan on Saturday joined hands for a military exercise between the army troops in mountainous terrain. Crucial in terms of the security challenges faced by the two nations amid changing trends in global terrorism, the 12-day exercise named KAZIND-2019 was inaugurated by Brig SK Mandal, Commander of the 111 Independent Infantry Brigade.
"The aim of the exercise was to conduct company-level joint training with an emphasis on counter terrorism operations in the mountainous terrain", the Indian Army said adding that the said exercise would conclude by October 15.
This being an annual exercise in between the two armies, the Indian army further informed that around 60 soldiers from both Indian and Kazakhstan would share their experiences of counter terrorism operations during the exercise.
Further while the exercise KAZIND 2019 can be termed as a façade of long standing strategic ties between India and Kazakhstan, the statement noted that as a part of the schedule, important lectures, demonstrations and drills related to counter insurgency and counter terrorism operations will also be conducted.
