Mumbai, Jan 31: Well-known Tamil actor Jiiva has been roped in for the much-anticipated sports drama 83. Jiiva will play the character of legendary cricketer Krishnamachari Srikkanth.

Earlier, leading actors like Allu Arjun and Vijay Devarkonda were the front runner for Srikkanth’s role but finally, Jiiva bagged the multi-starrer project. Known for his aggressive game, Krishnamachari Srikkanth was instrumental in shaping India’s 1983 World Cup victory.
Under the prestigious banner of Reliance Entertainments, veterans like Madhu Mantena, Vishnu Induri, and Kabir Khan are co-producing the sports drama.
Actor Ranveer Singh will be seen as Kapil Dev and award-winning director Kabir Khan will recreate India’s glorious journey of 1983 World Cup. The film will hit the screens on 10 April 2020.
