New Delhi, Jan 24: We are celebrating the National Girl Child Day today and the third Anniversary of Beto Bachao Beto Pathao scheme. The theme for the day is ‘Empowering girls for brighter tomorrow’ and creating awareness on the issue of declining child sex ratio.
The day is initiated in 2008, objectives to highlight the inequality of girls promote awareness on the range of topics like the importance of education, health and hygiene and rights of girl child etc. gender discrimination is a huge problem faced by many areas. On this day various events organised across the country.
Women and Child Development Minister Maneka Gandhibjp, Union Minister Dr Virendra Kumar and Ministry of Women and Child Development officials inaugurate the National Girl Child Day celebrations in New Delhi today.
‘Innovations under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ — a comprehensive booklet encapsulating 38 innovative activities from Districts across the country released. Interventions have been categorised under 5 themes: Survival, Protection, Education, Participation & Valuing Girls.

Enabling Girl Child Education

Beti Bachao Beti Padhao central sector scheme with 100 per cent financial assistance for district-level component and the funds are directly released to the DC and DM's account. The scheme is a comprehensive programme to address the declining child sex ratio and related issues of empowerment of women.
