Uttarakhand to keep an eye on River Ganga; to be monitored every month at these places

Dehradun, July 26: Uttarakhand will now be monitoring Ganga every month. Under this, the Uttarakhand Environment Protection and Pollution Control Board (PCB) will check the quality of Ganga water from Badrinath and Uttarkashi to Haridwar from 29 places. In this, Badrinath, Vishnu Prayag, Karnprayag, and Nandprayag have also been added. New arrangements have been started from this month.


 

Following the instructions from the National Green Tribunal (NGT) and the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) strict stance on the cleanliness and cleanliness of the National River Ganges, PCB has made a new arrangement for monitoring the Ganga in Uttarakhand.

Chief Environmental Officer said that in order of CPCB instructions, quality of Ganga water will be checked at all these places every month now. This work has started from this month. In July, the water of the Ganges was found to be consistent with the standards. However, he said that due to rain, the water is very muddy these days, due to which the correct picture does not appear. The real situation is known in the summer.

He told that now every month the Ganga water monitoring report will be sent to CPCB. The water released from the STP was also examined by the PCB team, the monitoring of the water obtained by the 18 sewerage treatment plant (STP) set up in the cities and cities of Ganga during the monitoring of Ganga water. According to the Chief Environment Officer, all the water was found to be in accordance with the standards.
