Riyadh, July 23: Thousands of visitors attended the Saudi Arabia’s world-famous honey festival that took place in a South-Western region of Baha. Notably, the honey festival which was kicked-off on Saturday aims to help beekeepers promote their products in a professional manner and is also financially rewarding.
Around 10,000 people attended the event on Sunday. At least fifty exhibitors are participating with a total of 20 tons of honey in the festival. Ahmad Al Khazam who is the head of the organizing committee said that the exhibition features liquid honey and honey wax with the participation of apiarists from different areas of Saudi Arabia and Arab countries.
The festival is considered the biggest for honey producers and apiarists in the Middle East. This year’s edition includes an exhibition of honey products, tools of bee breeding and colourful activities for children including contests.
The honey festival also falls in line with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, which aims to propel Saudi Arabia as a main producer of honey both regionally and internationally. It also aims to develop the industry for nutritional and medicinal purposes.
