Lucknow May 3: Holding Mohammad Ali Jinnah responsible for partition of the country, RSS leader and Patron of Muslim Rashtriya Manch (MRM) Indresh Kumar said that Jinnah was a traitor.

Indresh Kumar's statement came against the background of the recent contradiction over displaying the portrait of Jinnah at Aligarh Muslim University and violence that erupted in its aftermath.

He said when a BJP MP demanded removal of Jinnah's portrait, a Congress leader said “When Pakistan honours Bhagat Singh, we should also give respect to Jinnah”. Indresh Kumar denounced this approach sayig that Bhagat Singh was a patriot while Jinnah was a traitor and the two cannot be compared.

Indresh Kumar was speaking at Narad Jayanti and Patrakar Samman Samaroh at Vishwa Samvad Kendra here on Wednesday. He said because of the partition of the country over ten lakh people were killed, and three lakh became refugees because of Jinnah. Bhagat Singh's actions did not invite such a colossal misfortune, he said.

Terming Pakistan as illegitimate child, Indresh Kumar asked the people to pray for Pakistan's early end. He also appealed to boycott Chinese goods.

Indresh Kumar said that what we got in 1947 was not independence but partition of the motherland and said that he does not think it to be festival of independence. He said it was Subhash Chandra Bose who, on December 30, 1943, unfurled the tricolour at Port Blair and announced the true independence of India. We will be celebrating its 75th anniversary this year, he said.

Reaffirming the return of Narendra Modi government in 2019, he suggested the media to go in for positivity in news.

Chief Guest Vice-Chancellor of Rajarshi Tandan Open University Prof Kameshwar Nath Singh said that in today’s digital era, the media is not able to reach everywhere but Narad would have his presence everywhere in the past. It was his speciality to be everywhere with a mission of public good, he said adding that every journalist must imbibe this quality of Narad.

Prof Singh said that a journalist must have understanding of place and time to keep his writing in a proper direction.

VSK President Narendra Singh Bhadauria presided over the function while Ahok Sinha conducted the proceedings.

On this occasion journalists Kumar Abhishek, Isha Jain, Manish Sharma and Photojournalist Suraj Kumar were felicitated with Narad Awards at the hands of Indresh Kumar and other dignitaries.
