Shimla, May 28: Succumbing to adopt natural methods of farming and bringing out various initiatives, the state of Himachal Pradesh has decided to transform itself into an organic farming state in the next five years. Adopting an integrated approach to promoting organic and zero budget natural farming system, the farmers in the state have intended to switch over to organic farming.
To boost the initiative, the state government has made special arrangements for the promotion of organic farming and also initiated over 20 crores for the current financial year. At present, 39,790 farmers have already switched over to organic farming ensuring production of healthy food grains, free from harmful chemical ingredients.
The state government has introduced 'Prakritik Kheti Khushhaal Kisaan Yojana' to enhance agricultural income by adopting low-cost climate-resilient Zero Budget Natural Farming System. A state-level committee headed by the chief minister would monitor the implementation and progress of the Zero Budget Natural Farming System.
To further enhance the need to uplift the lives of the farmers and make them well empowered, mass awareness programmes will be organized to educate farmers about organic farming. The need to start an awareness campaign has garnered a lot of attention and the farmers have been given a supporting hand by the state government to try new ways of covering organic farming and shutting down the harmful chemical usage.
